Vision therapy is a highly effective non-surgical treatment for many common visual problems, including lazy eye, crossed eyes, double vision, convergence insufficiency and even some reading and learning disabilities.
Vision therapy uses a combination of dedicated optical devices and customized treatment programs to help you strengthen your eye muscles and train your brain to manage visual alignment, eye movements and visual processing. These devices include therapeutic lenses, prisms and filters.
Vision therapy is always tailored to meet you, or your child’s, unique visual needs. As patients make progress we adjust the exercises and treatments to encourage further visual improvements over time.
Even if you have perfect 20/20 vision you may still benefit from vision therapy. If you are experiencing any vision problems you should undergo a comprehensive eye exam.
Visual therapy is the best way to treat convergence insufficiency in children. It may also be an effective way to compliment the treatment of learning-related visual problems such as ADHD and dyslexia. Visual therapy focuses on teaching the eyes to work together as a team, creating better coordination and increasing the efficiency of the patient’s binocular vision.
